This week Sport Fuels Life’s very own Megan Zimlich competed at the World’s Greatest Live: Acadia Invitational in Greenville, SC hosted in the hometown of Olympic pole vaulter, Sandi Morris, who took the silver medal at the Rio Games in 2016.

We love seeing how athletes all over the country are getting creative with how they get to keep their competitive spirit alive, and Sandi’s D.I.Y. pole vault pit she built with her dad is at the top of our list for 2020 COVID-ingenuity in sports. When she mentioned this ingenious solution to the obstacles Coronavirus has provided to her own training during our interview with her earlier this year, we knew that she was onto something big–and that she was poised to soar to new heights in her career.

ESPN’s Youtube channel picked up this meet and not only do you get to see gifted athletes jumping for joy that they get to compete again, you also get a great behind-the-scenes look at Sandi’s sweet family, ten of the world’s greatest pole vaulting athletes who are participating, and how this fun event came to be.
